The short version: Bright Minds does not ask for, collect, or transmit any personal information about you or your child. There are no accounts, no sign-up, and no advertising. Two optional drawing features send data to outside services in order to work; those are described in full below.
Bright Minds (“the app”) is a learning-and-play app for young children,
published by NthSol LLC (“we”, “us”). Package name:
com.nthsol.brightminds. This policy is written to be read by parents.
1. Information we do not collect
The app does not collect, store, or transmit any of the following:
- Names, nicknames, or usernames
- Email addresses, phone numbers, or postal addresses
- Dates of birth
- Photographs, camera images, or video
- Voice or microphone recordings
- Location or GPS data
- Contacts, calendar entries, or files from the device
- Device identifiers, advertising IDs, or persistent tracking identifiers
There is no way to type free text anywhere in the app — it contains no text entry fields at all. A child using Bright Minds cannot enter a name or any other personal detail, even accidentally.
There are no user accounts and no sign-in. We use no analytics, advertising, crash-reporting, or tracking software of any kind.
2. Information stored on the device (and only on the device)
To remember where your child got to, the app saves a small amount of non-personal data in the device’s own private app storage. This never leaves the device and we cannot see it.
| What is saved | Example |
|---|---|
| Chosen buddy character | Fox or owl |
| Chosen age band | 2.5+ or 5+ |
| Progress and unlocked levels | Levels completed per mini-game |
| Stars, daily streak, challenge progress | Star count, streak day |
| Play-time totals for the Parent Zone | Minutes played per area |
| Settings | Voice, easy mode, reduced motion, time limit |
| Drawings your child saves | Pictures saved to “My Art” |
| Favourite & recent colouring pages | Page references |
The age band is a range only (2.5+ or 5+). The app never asks for and never stores a date of birth.
Deleting this data: uninstalling the app removes all of it. On Android you can also clear it via Settings → Apps → Bright Minds → Storage → Clear data. Because the data is stored only on the device, there is nothing for us to delete on our side.
3. Features that connect to the internet
Two features need an internet connection. Everything else works offline.
3.1 Auto Draw (doodle recognition)
In Drawing → Auto Draw, your child doodles and the app tries to
guess what they drew. To do this, the app sends the shape of the
drawing — the coordinates of the lines drawn and the size of the drawing
area — to Google’s handwriting recognition service at
www.google.com/inputtools. Google returns a list of guessed words.
- Sent: line coordinates and canvas dimensions only.
- Not sent: any name, identifier, device information, or account detail. The request carries nothing that identifies your child or device.
- The drawing is sent as a set of coordinates, not as a picture or a file.
This data is handled by Google under its own privacy policy: policies.google.com/privacy. If you would rather this feature was not used, simply do not open Auto Draw.
3.2 Colouring Book (picture library)
In Drawing → Colouring Book, the app fetches line-art pictures from Pixabay, a stock image library, via its public API.
- Sent: a search word chosen by the app itself (for example “animals”) and our developer API key.
- Not sent: anything typed by your child (nothing can be typed), and no identifier for your child or device.
- Pixabay’s SafeSearch filter is switched on for every request.
- Downloaded pictures are cached on the device so they load quickly next time.
Pixabay handles these requests under its own privacy policy: pixabay.com/service/privacy. Pictures come from a third-party library; while SafeSearch is always enabled, we do not control Pixabay’s catalogue, so we recommend the Colouring Book be used with normal parental awareness.
3.3 Spoken voice guidance
The app reads questions and encouragement aloud using the text-to-speech voice built into your device’s operating system. The words spoken are fixed phrases written by us — for example “How many do you see?”. Nothing your child says is recorded: the app has no microphone permission and cannot listen. Voice guidance can be switched off at any time in the Parent Zone.
4. Advertising and purchases
- Bright Minds contains no advertising.
- Bright Minds contains no in-app purchases and takes no payments.
- We do not sell, rent, or share any information with data brokers, advertisers, or marketing companies.
5. Permissions the app requests
On Android, the app requests a single permission: internet access, used only for the features in Section 3. It does not request the camera, microphone, location, contacts, photo library, or device storage. On iOS, the app declares no permission requests at all.
6. Children’s privacy
Bright Minds is designed for children aged approximately 2.5 and older, and is intended to be installed and set up by a parent or guardian.
We have deliberately built the app so that no personal information is collected from anyone, including children. This is intended to meet the requirements of the United States Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), the EU/UK General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) including its provisions on children’s data, and Google Play’s Families policy.
Because we never collect personal data, we never need parental consent to collect it, and there is no personal data held by us for a parent to access, correct, or delete.
The Parent Zone — containing play-time limits, usage information, and settings — is protected behind a simple arithmetic question so that young children cannot change these settings on their own.
If you believe your child has somehow provided us with personal information, please contact us at m.irfanshkh@gmail.com and we will look into it promptly.
7. Data retention and security
Because all of your child’s information stays in the app’s private storage on your own device, its security is provided by your device’s own protections. We do not operate servers that store information about your child, so there is no account, database, or backup of personal information to be breached on our side. Data is kept until you clear the app’s data or uninstall the app. Requests to the services in Section 3 are sent over encrypted HTTPS connections.
8. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or export personal data held about you or your child. We hold no personal data about you or your child, so in practice there is nothing for us to provide or erase. You have complete control over the information stored on your device and can remove all of it at any time (see Section 2).
9. Changes to this policy
If we change what the app does with information, we will update this policy and change the “Last updated” date above. If a change is significant — for example, if we ever began collecting personal information — we will make that clear prominently, and where the law requires it we will ask for consent first.
